Redmi doesn’t usually surprise people. It iterates. This time, though, the Redmi K90 Ultra leak feels… heavier. Not louder. Just more deliberate.
According to Digital Chat Station (via GSMArena), the phone will run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500. That part tracks. What doesn’t is the absence of a “Plus” version. MediaTek reportedly isn’t planning a Dimensity 9500+, which removes Redmi’s usual performance bump. Instead of waiting, Redmi seems to be working around it.

The leak mentions a built-in cooling fan. An actual fan. If true, this would be the first Xiaomi-group phone to use active cooling. It’s a risky choice. Fans add bulk. They can fail. But they also solve a real problem: performance drop-off during long gaming sessions. Redmi appears willing to accept the trade-off.
Battery size is another signal. The K90 Ultra is tipped to pack an 8,500mAh battery, with internal testing still ongoing. That suggests weight isn’t the top concern here. Wired charging could reach 100W, possibly with PPS support. No word on wireless charging yet. Maybe it’s there. Maybe it isn’t.
Up front, expect a 6.8-inch flat display, 1.5K resolution, and up to 165Hz refresh rate. Flat screens are quietly making sense again, especially for gaming. Other details include a metal frame, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and full water resistance.
A launch around May or June is expected, possibly alongside the Redmi K Pad 2. Whether this is a new direction or just a one-off experiment isn’t clear yet.
