Redmi officially confirmed the Redmi Turbo 5 Max variant earlier this month. This follows one of the growing trends for 2026’s smartphones – the Max devices. Apple had been using the Pro Max moniker for some years, and just now, some brands decided to follow suit. Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and the Redmi K90 Pro Max. Now, we wil see a Redmi Turbo 5 Max. It’s a new addition to this series that had only Pro and vanilla units.
After some silence, we finally have some renders that show the Redmi Turbo 5 Max with a new horizontal camera. We recommend taking these renders with a grain of salt, as they may be largely AI-generated. One aspect that raises some eyebrows and prompts doubts in these renders is the horizontal camera design.

It looks like the Redmi Turbo 4 series camera had been rotated 90 degrees to fit on a horizontal alignment. It’s somewhat sketchy, and for that reason, it’s hard to confirm the veracity of these renders. If they are the real deal, then we will see a new camera design for this phone, which basically rotates the cameras of its predecessors.
Another notable aspect of the renders is the slim bezels, with a tiny punch-hole for the selfie cameras. Interestingly, we can see the round edges that have been a design trademark of recent releases in Xiaomi’s portfolio. The buttons follow the usual alignment of Redmi phones, and besides these details, there aren’t major design differences in this variant. We will have to wait some time to confirm if these renders are close to the real product.
According to Redmi, the Redmi Turbo 5 Max will be the fastest phone with the biggest battery in its segment. Considering the leaks around the Redmi Turbo 5 series, we expect a 9,000mAh or larger battery capacity in this Max variant. Under the hood, the phone is expected to come with a new MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. It’s an upcoming variant of the Dimensity 9500, which coincidentally will launch on January 15.
The Redmi Turbo 5 series is expected to hit the Chinese market on January 15. These phones are expected to become part of the POCO X8 series in global markets.
